Privacy Policy

sgajewski.com is a private website operated by Sean Gajewski, an individual, for the use of his family. It hosts a family memory application ("Family Memories") and other household tools. Nothing on this site is offered to the public, sold, or used for advertising. This policy explains what information the site holds and how it is used.

What we collect

Account details — a username, a display name, and a password (stored only as a one-way hash).
Family profile — name, date of birth, an optional profile photo, and, if you choose to give them, an email address and mobile phone number.
Memories you share — voice recordings, photos, written stories, and transcripts of recordings, together with the question they answer.
Technical records — standard web-server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) kept for security and troubleshooting.

How we use it

To sign you in and show you the parts of the site your family role allows.
To let family members send each other questions and share the answers.
To let you know, by email or text message, when a family member has sent you a question (see below).
To transcribe voice recordings so they can be read as well as heard.

Email and text message notifications

If you give us your email address, we may email you when a family member sends you a question. Each email includes a link back to the site.

If you give us your mobile number and tick the "Text me when a family member sends me a question" box on your family profile, we will send you a short text message (SMS) when a question is waiting for you. Messages are sent from our toll-free number. Message frequency varies and is typically a few messages a month. Message and data rates may apply.

Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts. You will get one final message confirming you have been unsubscribed.

You can also untick the consent box on your family profile at any time, or ask Sean to do it for you.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third party, except as needed by our messaging provider to deliver the messages.

Who can see your information

Only signed-in family members can see profiles and memories, and some areas are limited to the site administrator. We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with anyone for their own use. The service providers below process data on our behalf only to run the site:

Namecheap — web hosting and the database.
Cloudflare — storage for recordings and photos, and the speech-to-text service that transcribes recordings.
Resend — delivery of notification emails.
Twilio — delivery of notification text messages.

How long we keep it

Memories are kept indefinitely; that is the point of the site. Account and profile details are kept while the account exists. Notification and transcription logs are kept for troubleshooting and may be cleared periodically. You can ask for your profile, recordings, or account to be deleted at any time.

Cookies

The site uses a session cookie to keep you signed in and, if you choose "remember me", a second cookie that signs you back in for up to 30 days. There are no advertising or analytics cookies.

Children

Family profiles may describe children, entered by their parents. Children do not have their own accounts and are not sent notifications.
